Memory Quilts

Transform a collection of meaningful clothing into a one-of-a-kind memory quilt designed to preserve years of memories in a piece you can see, hold and treasure. Each quilt is individually designed around the clothing you provide, allowing favourite patterns, prints, embroidery and other special details to become part of the finished design.

Because every collection of clothing is different, no two quilts will ever be exactly alike.

Size

The standard memory quilt is approximately 120cm x 120cm (4 ft × 4 ft).

Other sizes are available, and pricing will vary depending on the finished size of your quilt.

Because each quilt is handmade, finished dimensions may vary slightly.

Clothing Needed

For memory quilts, the more clothing you can provide, the better!

Rather than requiring a specific number of pieces, I recommend sending all of the clothing you're comfortable having incorporated into your quilt. Having a larger selection gives me more flexibility when designing the layout and allows me to showcase a greater variety of colours, patterns and meaningful details.

I may not need to use every piece you send. Any clothing that isn't used will be returned to you with your completed quilt.

If you only have a limited amount of clothing, please reach out. We can discuss what you have and determine what size and design may be possible.

Choosing Your Clothing

Best clothing and fabrics include:
Clothing with printed or embroidered designs, T-shirts, dress shirts, light sweaters, onesies, pajamas, hospital blankets, burp cloths, and items made from cotton, polyester or fleece.

Please avoid:
Knitted or crocheted items, very thick materials such as heavy jackets or denim unless discussed beforehand, delicate or sheer fabrics that may tear easily, and items with excessive beading, sequins or embellishments.

Items where the main design falls directly over a zipper or seam may also be more difficult to incorporate.

If you're unsure whether a particular item can be used, send me a photo and we can discuss it before you send your clothing.

Your Quilt Design

Your clothing will be thoughtfully arranged to create a cohesive, one-of-a-kind quilt while highlighting the patterns and details that make your pieces special.

If there are particular pieces, prints, logos, embroidered details or other elements that are especially important to you, please let me know. I'll do my best to feature them prominently within the design.

Backing & Border Fabric

You do not need to provide fabric for the backing or border of your quilt.

I will provide both.

The back of your quilt will be made from one solid piece of fabric, rather than pieced together from your clothing. The border will also be created using coordinating fabric that I provide.

I'll select fabric that complements the clothing and overall design of your quilt. If you have a particular colour or look in mind, please let me know when placing your order.

Make It Yours

Custom Embroidery

Optional embroidery can be added to make your quilt even more personal.

Depending on your vision, this could include details such as a name, meaningful date, birth information or short message.

Additional charges apply for embroidery and other custom requests.

Pricing

Pricing varies based primarily on the finished size of your quilt, as well as any embroidery or additional customization requested.

The standard size is approximately 4 ft × 5 ft. If you're interested in a different size, please reach out so we can discuss your clothing and the size you'd like before your order is confirmed.

Turnaround

Memory quilts require more construction than some of my smaller keepsakes, so turnaround time may vary depending on the size and complexity of your quilt.

Your estimated completion time will be confirmed with your order.

Memory quilts are especially suited to larger collections of clothing, and there are many ways to make yours personal.
