Memory Pillows

Transform meaningful clothing into a one-of-a-kind memory pillow, thoughtfully designed to preserve the fabrics, patterns and details that mean the most to you. Whether created from your baby's outgrown clothing or the clothing of someone deeply missed, each pillow provides a beautiful way to keep those memories close.

Every pillow is individually designed from the clothing you provide, so no two will ever be exactly alike.

Size

Memory pillows are designed to fit an approximately 18" × 18" pillow insert, with an additional fabric border surrounding the patchwork design.

The pillow insert is included with your finished keepsake, so it will arrive ready to display.

Because each pillow is handmade using different fabrics and materials, finished dimensions may vary slightly.

Clothing Needed

For a patchwork-style memory pillow, I recommend approximately:

• Baby clothing: 8–16 pieces
• Adult clothing: 6–10 pieces

You may be able to provide fewer pieces if you have larger items, such as baby blankets, hospital blankets, larger shirts or other pieces that provide more usable fabric. Fewer items may also be possible if you're happy with a less varied patchwork design.

Don't have the recommended amount? Please reach out before deciding you don't have enough. I'll be happy to look at what you have and determine what's possible.

Choosing Your Clothing

Best clothing and fabrics include:
Clothing with printed or embroidered designs, T-shirts, dress shirts, light sweaters, onesies, pajamas, hospital blankets, burp cloths, and items made from cotton, polyester or fleece.

Please avoid:
Knitted or crocheted items, very thick materials such as heavy jackets or denim unless discussed beforehand, delicate or sheer fabrics that may tear easily, and items with excessive beading, sequins or embellishments.

Items where the main design falls directly over a zipper or seam may also be more difficult to incorporate.

If you're unsure whether a particular piece will work, send me a photo and we can discuss it before you send your clothing.

Your Pillow Design

Your clothing will be thoughtfully arranged into a patchwork design, with special attention given to meaningful prints, patterns, embroidery and other details.

The patchwork portion is surrounded by a coordinating fabric border, creating a finished design sized for an approximately 18" × 18" pillow.

If there is a particular piece of clothing, print, logo, embroidered detail or other feature that is especially meaningful to you, please let me know. I'll do my best to feature it prominently in the finished design.

Custom Embroidery

Optional embroidery can be added to your memory pillow for an additional fee.

Depending on the available space and your design, embroidery can be used to add meaningful details such as a name, date, short message or other special wording.

Turnaround

Your memory pillow is typically completed within 2–4 weeks after I receive your clothing.

Important Safety Information

Memory pillows are intended primarily as decorative keepsakes. They should not be placed in an infant or young child's sleep space.

Inspect your keepsake periodically and discontinue use if the fabric, seams or other components become damaged.
